The Constitution establishes three branches
of the government. They are-
1. Legislative branch
2. Executive branch
3. Judicial branch
Congress(the Senate and the House of
Representatives) is the legislative branch of the US Government which makes
laws .
The President is the head of the executive
branch. The vice president and the members of the cabinet are also part of the executive
branch. The executive branch enforces the laws that Congress passes
The judicial branch places the highest
judicial power in the Supreme Court. The judicial branch decides if government
laws and actions follow the US Constitution.

What stops one branch of the government from becoming too powerful?
The Constitution of the United States separates
the government's power into three branches to prevent one person or group from
having too much power. The separation of government into three branched creates
a system of checks and balances.
